Suspending of the negotiations between Sudan’s government and the rebel (SPLM-N)

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The Africa Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) suspended the negotiations between Sudan’s government and the rebel Sudan People Liberation Movement- North (SPLM-N) on the Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states, known as the Two Areas, to the next January after it failed to compromise between the visions of the two parties
The head of Sudan delegation, Ibrahim Ghandour, stressed his government’s readiness to resume talks any time, accusing the SPLM-M of trying to prolong the time of war in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states
In a press conference in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa following suspension of the negotiations on Monday, Ghandour said that the other party is prisoner of its military and political alliances, pointing out that SPLM-N wants to continue war and to achieve a political agenda under the name of the Two Areas
he revealed that SPLM-N is adhere to cancel of the Islamic Sharia in the two Areas and dismantle the police and security bodies, besides the autonomy for the Two Areas, underscoring his Government’s rejection to all these demands as they out of the framework of the negotiations and mandate, adding that such dictions prove that SPLM-N is not serious about peace
Khartoum’s top negotiator accused SPLM-N of seeking to include the Paris Declaration groups, the Sudan Call parties, Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) and National Umma Party (NUP)
for his part, SPLM-N top negotiator, Yasir Arman, said the current stage should prepare for a “national constitutional dialogue” as the government rejects the inclusion of the opposition parties, pointing that the discussions should be limited to the armed groups.
Arman told reporters that Mbeki suggested new ideas and posed some questions related to the self rule, security arrangements and its relation with the political arrangements and issues pertaining to the predatory all-parties conference at the AU headquarters.
