A group of 82 Sudanese who fled the fighting in Libya are being held in Salloum Land Port at the Libyan-Egyptian border.
“Ten days ago, when we reached the Libyan-Egyptian border by travel buses, Egyptian customs authorities detained us, though some of us had obtained a transit visa for Egypt on our way to Sudan”, one of them told Radio Dabanga from Salloum.
He described the conditions they are in as “extremely inhumane”. “We are held in the open, under the scorching sun, without water and food.”
They detainees have contacted the Sudanese embassy in Egypt, but did not receive any response. The source demanded from “the Egyptian authorities to allow us to leave Salloum, and return to our families in Sudan.
