Sudan to increase the oil production to meet the country's needs

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan's Oil Minister, Makawi Mohammed Awad, has underscored that increasing of the oil production is a strategic plan of his Ministry in accordance with the national strategy for the State to boost energy to meet the country's needs. after his meeting with the chairman of the Chinese company (CNODC) during his visit to the country on Sunday, Awad disclosed his country’s willingness to overcome all obstacles facing companies to increase their investment in oil production, praising the successful partnership between Sudan and China in the field of oil production, hoping that the next period will witness intensive activity of Chinese companies in the country to increase oil production. For his part, the Chinese official confirmed his company’s desire to increase oil production, according to the plan of the Sudan’ Ministry of oil in addition to technical cooperation The meeting between two parties also discussed expansion of the company's activity in the field of exploration and to increase the country's oil production, besides possibility of cooperation to overcome obstacles. Sudan lost 75% of its oil reserves after the southern part of the country became an independent nation in July 2011, denying the north billions of dollars in revenues. Oil revenue constituted more than half of the Sudan’s revenue and 90% of its exports. Sudan currently produces 133,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). The country’s production is stationed mainly in the Heglig area and its surroundings, as well as western Kordofan. Following South Sudan’s secession, several foreign companies started exploration in new oil fields.
