The Sudan National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) confiscated the print runs of El Midan newspaper on Sunday and Tuesday, of El Jareeda daily newspaper on last Friday, and last week of El Sayha.
The Sudanese Journalists Network noted in a statement on Wednesdayandnbsp;that apart from the confiscations, a number of female journalists were summoned by the NISS for interrogation during the last two weeks.
“The increase in confiscations of newspapers and the harassment of journalists coincides with the ruling National Congress Party’s calls for a broad national dialogue. The Party's deeds contradict its words.”
“The NISS and other government institutions should file a complaint with the competent authorities in case of being affected by the publication of any material by any media,” the Network demanded.
The Network urged the authorities to refrain from “the repeated violations of the rights and freedoms contained in international conventions, and ratified by Sudan”.
