Sudan participates in African cinema festival in New York
|
Khartoum-Sudan is due to participate in the African cinema festival to take place in New York in the current month.
The Sudanese cinema has witnessed neglect and harassment during the past two decades amid initiatives by independent young people to revive the cinema production and the cinemas. The Sudanese cinema has a history y of over a hundred year.
The Afra Mall Cinema witnessed on Friday exhibition of films of (Drums of the Nile, Just a Kid, Kosti Cinema Soon and Teeba). Representative of the US embassy, who was present at the occasion, said the embassy is proud to send two of the directors of these films to New York to participate in the African cinema festival.
The two films are the Drums of Nile and Teeba. The Drums of the Nile film is 10-minute documentary that highlights the story of a musician from South Sudan after the secession of the South as he was trying to bid farewell to his favorite city of Khartoum. The Teeba is a 12-minute film about a divorced woman that faces the social and economic circumstances without being influenced by these factors on her life.
