Sudan condemns Renewal of US Sanctions
|
Khartoum-The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the decision of the US President to renew the unilateral sanctions that were imposed on Sudan since the year 1997 for another year that begins on October 24, 2014. A statement issued by the ministry Sunday also asserted Sudan rejection to the reasons and justifications that were mentioned by the American President for renewing the sanctions. The statement stated that all countries in the world, excluding the United States and its ally Israel, have agreed through the UN General Assembly decisions that the unilateral economic sanctions are categorically rejected by the international community on ground that they pose flagrant violation of the International Law, human rights and the right of people's for realizing development and getting basic services in the fields of health, education and technology.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Sudan will press ahead, despite the renewed unjustifiable sanctions, in its goals for realizing peace and accord through the national dialogue initiative, which was declared by the President of the Republic. The statement reiterated Sudan commitment to its responsibility toward its citizens in Darfur and to implement the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. The statement also affirmed Sudan government commitment to continue dialogue with the armed movements in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile toward achieving comprehensive peace and sustainable development all over the country.
