Sudan and Kenya confirm that ICC targets Africa leaders
|
December 26, 2014-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan and Kenya have stressed the latest steps taken by the International Criminal Court (ICC) with respect to referral of Darfur file to the UN Security Council confirmed the rightness of African position rejecting the Court proceedings as targets the leaders of the continent. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday after the talks in Nairobi between Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, and Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amina Mohamed, the two parties said that they exchanged views on recent developments in ICC “Sudan and Kenya see that developments confirmed African Union position and its power as a voice for the continent in the international forums” the statement added In the regional sphere, the statement stressed the commitment of the two countries to continue to promote dialogue and support peace in Somalia and South Sudan within the framework of IGAD initiative States, pointing out that Khartoum and Nairobi will fight terrorism, money laundering, human and drug trafficking The statement called for the strengthening of the commitment of the African continent in their destiny and establishment of internal mechanisms to meet the challenges of the continent. In the area of economic cooperation, the statement said that the two Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation to increase trade between the two countries in the sectors of sugar, oil, metals, banking and tourism. The two Ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of political consultation and cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries to activate the frequency of consultation on bilateral and regional issues
