Sudan’s government is expected to sign today, Wednesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a German company to finance and implement Khartoum-Port Sudan railway and Atbara-Abu Hamad line to the Egyptian border.
Sudan’s Finance Minister, Badr al-Din Mahmoud, called on the German company on Tuesday to invest in the country in various fields.
After his meeting with a delegation of the German private investment companies on the infrastructure projects, Sudan’s minister said that his government has granted the German companies the different privileges and facilities to benefit the areas and investment opportunities available in the country, urging German companies to enter into the mining sector in Sudan.
In accordance with the governmental directions to increase minerals production as a method to support the general Revenues of the state, the country’s ministry of minerals began to implement an accelerated program to increase gold production and other minerals to fill the gap of oil loss after South Sudan's secession in 2011.
Although, there are many challenges facing the ministry, notably Sudan losing part of its oil revenues after secession, increment of public mining and how to organize it beside how to balance it as a public economic activity and the state's commitment for the companies which track technical and scientific procedures.
