Sudan’s two opposition parties sing an agreement in Cairo
|
Jan 06, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline- The head of Reform Now Party (RNP), Ghazi Salahuddin Atabani, singed on Monday an agreement with the chair of National Umma Party (NUP), Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, in Egyptian capital, Cairo, in which he criticized recent constitutional amendments approved by the country's parliament, and insistence of the Government on elections and the national dialogue in its current form. In joint statement, the two parties said that the real dialogue requires fulfillment of the political forces' demands, pointing out that the constitutional amendments passed recently confirms that the Government is not serious in the national dialogue as constitutional amendments is one of the most important lines of dialogue Both sides pledged to work together to unify the positions of the political forces on issues and the national positions. Atabani and Al-Mahdi noted that the next election is one the most important items of the national dialogue and holding these elections requirements of impartiality is just an attempt to gain legitimacy. Sudanese Parliament approved on Sunday Constitutional amendments which allow the President to appoint and dismiss Governors of the states and turning National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) into regular force rather than collecting and analysis of information.
