Sudan’s security summons the mosques imams over their call for killing al-Turabi
|
Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) summoned on Thursday a number of the imams of the mosques who had called for the assassination of the Islamic veteran and the leader of Popular Congress Party ( PCP), Hassan al-Turabi, following the latter issued a fatwa, religious ruling, stating that that a woman's testimony is equal to that of a man. Informed source told the state-run Sudanese Media Center (SMC) on Thursday that NISS told the imams that these Islamic issues need more debates, discussions, and interviews which strengthen the Islamic bonds and enhance the arguments and evidences without polemics and creating dissension The source added that the security authorities assured the imams that they don’t ban views and the different religious issues. The PCP deputy Secretary-General, Ibrahim Al-Sanosi, called on Tuesday the party’s supporters in the capital and other states to defend al-Turabi after the latter issued the fatwa, confirming that accusations of Takfir give distorted image of Islam and Muslims and prevent freedom of expression al-Turabi issued many fatwas in the last years including the Muslim woman has the right to marry a Jewish or Christian man if she wants to, and that it's not forbidden at all, and that the rule that says that Muslim women can not marry non-Muslim men is a bunch of lies aimed to keep women behind/down".
