Sudan’s president provides guarantees to the rebels to participate in the internal dialogue

Jan 28, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s president, Omer Al-Bashir has promised the head of African Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) Thabo Mbeki, to give guarantees to the rebel of Sudan’s People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) fighting in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile and Darfur armed movements to participate in the expected internal dialogue. Sudan’s Minister of State in the Presidency, Al-Rashid Haroun, told reporters on Tuesday after Mbeki met Al-Bashir that African mediation presented proposals which are being studied by Khartoum’s government Haroun explained that Mbeki had received assurances from the President confirming providing of the necessary guarantee for the armed groups to participate in the internal dialogue, pointing out that Al-Bashir briefed Mbeki on the outcome of his visit to Doha and Addis Ababa and his visit to Germany to discuss the issue of debt relief to Sudan During the meeting, Sudan’s president stressed Government's keenness on establishing peace in Southern Kordofan, Blue Nile, and Darfur, expressing Khartoum’s appreciation for AUHIP efforts to narrow the differences with armed forces in order to achieve peace and stability Al-Bashir said that the negotiations on the Two Areas would be based on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the Doha peace agreement with regard to peace in Darfur For his part, Mbeki said in a press statement after the meeting that he has discussed with Al-Bashir the key issues relating to the efforts of the mechanism on peace negotiations and cessation of hostilities between the Darfur movements and the Government, noting the meeting dealt with the process of the national dialogue
