Sudan's Al-Gezira State governor says that the demonstrations intended to implement foreign agenda
Khartoum-The Governor of Al-Gezira State, Al-Zubair Bashir Taha, said that the demonstrations, currently taking place in his State, were intended to destabilize the city to implement foreign agenda, pointing out that some tried to fish in troubled waters. Demonstrations broke out on Sunday in the capital of Al-Gezira State, Wad Medani protesting against the Government's decision to increase fuel prices and some basic materials. According to statements to local newspapers on Tuesday, Taha revealed the scale of damages in Wad Medani caused by riots sparked by protests against lifting of fuel subsidy declared by the government recently, pointing out that a group of people gathered in the market and started burning tires, forcing public transport vehicles to stop plying roads which resulted in a transport bottleneck in and around the city He said that demonstrators attacked the Radio and TV premises, shops and burned down patrol stations, adding that 20 rioters were arrested and 25 mobiles and other electric equipments were recovered.
