South Sudan has not signed the Entebbe Convention: Egypt's Minister says Khartoum-Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Minister, Dr. Muhammad Abdel Muttalib has stressed that South Sudan's government has not signed The Entebbe Convention, pointing out that Juba's government position comes according to its political vision with Nile basin countries, and its interests and national sovereignty, and its relations with the neighboring countries of the Great Lakes countries. Abdel Muttalib explained that there are steps and political efforts currently being undertaken by Egypt's foreign ministry in cooperation with its counterparts from the Nile basin countries on understanding and consensus among the Nile basin countries which rely on the principle of the right of each State to use all of its water resources and development without harming others and under the previous conventions. In a press statement on Sunday, Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Minister that current visit to South Sudan aims to create a mechanism for joint cooperation in the areas of water with South Sudan to establish a new stage of integration and partnership between the two countries, indicating that the two parties are currently discussing several proposals to create a centralized management for the Egyptian irrigation in South Sudan and upgrading of the official and technical representation instead of the current public management commensurate with the scale of cooperation and integration in South Sudan Egypt's minster added that the two parties had agreed to most terms of the agreement is expected to signed soon between Cairo and Juba which aims to legalize the future of this cooperation which does not harm Egypt's relations with the rest of the Nile basin countries in the framework of bilateral cooperation.
