Solidarity committee to protest at Human Rights Commission
|
Khartoum--The Sudanese Committee for solidarity with families of martyrs, wounded and detainees will organize next Thursday a protest at the Human Rights Commission in Khartoum, and will hand over a memorandum on the arrests and continuous human rights violations. The arrests included student leaders from Khartoum University, cadres of Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, students from Darfur and some other states besides the leader of Umma Party Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi . Al-Mahdi was arrested in connection with his statements that the Rapid Support Forces are responsible for atrocities against civilians in some war zones in Sudan his stat accused under article 62, 66, 69 and 159 of the criminal code. Two more articles ( 50-63) were added to the file against Al-Mahdi. Chairman of the Solidarity committee Sideq Yousif said that they will hand over the human rights commission a detailed memo including the names of the detainees, the date of their arrests besides the ongoing prosecution against last September demonstrators. He cited that Omdurman court has postponed the prosecution session of 30 defendants until the 9th of next month at the request of the new judge who wanted some time to consider the case.
