Security arrests four members of solidarity committee and detainees’ families
|
Khartoum-The Sudanese security authorities arrested, on Monday, four members of the Committee for Solidarity with families of martyrs and political detainees and banned continuity of a protest by tens of activities and families of the detainees at a main road in Khartoum 2 area in the capital of Khartoum. The security arrested Salah Mohamed Abdelrahman, the father of detainee Mohamed Salah, before they released him later, Zakaraia Mohamed Hamad, Imad Hamid and a four member whose identity has not been recognized so far. The arrest took place upon a press conference organized by the solidarity committee on the issue of the detainees. Head of the solidarity committee Sideq Yousif has expressed his concern over the human rights violations in the country. In a press conference ahead of the protest at Hag movement premises on Monday, Yousif said that” the pace of violations have increased widely and included arrests and summons of journalists and suspension of Al-Jarida newspaper last Sunday without showing any reasons for the confiscation”. He criticized the stance of Human Rights Commission in Sudan in terms of favoritism in visiting the detainees, in hint to its visit to the leader of the Umma party Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi alone. He said that Ghazi Al-Sanhori and Marwan Al-Kanzi were arrested following the protest made at the governor of Khartoum state last Sunday. He said that a child has died of tear gas suffocation upon demonstrations demanding drinking water in Id-Hussein area in Khartoum. He added” these incidents reveal major decline”.
