SPLM in Sudan affirms readiness to reach comprehensive solution

Addis Ababa-The head of the African Union high-level mechanism, Thabo Mbeki, has met with the Sudanese government delegation Ibrahim Ghandour and chairman of the SPLM –North Yasir Arman separately. The two sides are expected to convene a direct round of talks after a session comprising Mbeki and Ghandour. The head of the mechanism has stressed the importance of reaching an agreement during this session. Head of the SPLM-North negotiation delegation has affirmed readiness to reach a peace agreement despite what he described as the inappropriate atmosphere of talks due to the targeting of citizens in South Kordofan by the government forces and the Janjaweed militias. Arman said that his delegation held meetings with the Sudanese experts the SPLM has invited for a deliberation meeting. He described his meeting with the head of the African mechanism as good. He said that he gave Thabo Mbeki a clear roadmap plan toward reaching a constitutional conference based on realization of a comprehensive political solution and a comprehensive change.
