Resuming of negotiations on the Two Areas in November 12: SPLM-N reveals
|
SudaneseOnline-Sudan peoples’ Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) disclosed that it has received an invitation from the African Union High Implementation Panel (AUHIP) to resume the negotiations on the Two Areas with Khartoum’s Khartoum in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa on 12 November, stressing that it is conducting extensive consultations with its allies and the political and civil powers wishing to change. In a statement released on Monday, the SPLM-N spokesperson, Mubarak Ardol accused the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) of impeding the AUHIP work since issuing of the last African Union resolutions to buy time to re-nominate the current president Omer Al-Bashir for another presidential term and falsely name it elections. Ardol pointed out that the Sudanese army also prepares to launch a wide military campaign in the summer, stressing that it would not gain better results than the multiple failures of the past years. “The only success it has achieved was the extermination and displacement of civilians and these are crimes that would never become obsolete”, he said. Since 2011 the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army - North (SPLM-N/SPLA-N) have fought the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and their aligned militia the Popular Defence Forces (PDF). The conflict began in South Kordofan State in June 2011 and in Blue Nile State in September the same year.
