Prominent Darfur rebel leaders join peace process
|
Khartoum-The government of Central Darfur state has revealed that a considerable group chaired by prominent leaders from Abdel-Wahid Nour rebel faction has signed a peace agreement with the government based on the Doha peace document. In the meantime, the government has announced that the state is free from the security threats and inter-tribal conflicts. Governor of the central Darfur state Ja’afar Abdel-Hakam has told the Sudanese Media center that the local initiative launched by the people of the state in cooperation with the official authorities succeeded in persuading essential leaders in the rebel movement to join the peace process. He said that the defected group is about to dealer itself as a new member to the peace process, calling on all arms holders to listen to the voice of reason.
