Parliament calls for joining international agreement on anti-corruption
|
Khartoum-Members of the Parliament have stressed the necessity of joining the UN anti-corruption agreement as the non-joining will make Sudan at the list of the corruption countries. In the meantime the agreement has urged the member states to take precautionary measures and incriminate forms of corruption in public and private sector.
Member of the Parliament Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir has called for approving the agreement, saying that joining the agreement necessitates improving its performance in fighting corruption.
The agreement stresses the necessity of incriminating and strictly punishing perpetrators of corruption crime including the ill-gotten wealth, money laundering, and obstruction of the course of justice. The agreement stipulates the establishment of joint bodies to conduct the investigations and the judicial measures in one country or more.
