Oil exploration to begin in west Dongola in soon
|
Khartoum-Oil exploration equipments have arrived in Portsudan prior to be sent to an area situated at 700 kilometers west of Dongola.
Informed source told the Citizen that the field is located near the joint border with Chad and Libya. A Sudanese and Saudi companies won the concessions. The exploration will start in early July.
The seismic inspection and satellite images have demonstrated strong evidence of oil existence in the area.
Most of the studies and exploration have become active following the secession of South Sudan in 2011 to compensate the loss of most oil fields.
Last year, media reports revealed that primary exploration of oil in the northern state has shown that the digging of 4 oil wells in block 14 in the further north resulted in 5000 barrel per day of high quality oil.
