The new UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Al-Mustafa bin Malih, is expected to arrive in Sudan today, Saturday to replace the former Coordinator Ali al-Za’atari temporarily who expelled by Sudanese Government in last December . According to sources told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A’am newspaper on Friday that selection of the new coordinator came in accordance with the requirements established by Sudanese Government such as specking of Arabic language and to be fully aware of all of the files and the latest developments in Sudan. In last December Sudanese authorities demanded that United Nations' humanitarian coordinator in the country Ali al-Za’atari leave Sudan, Za’atari had allegedly insulted Sudan and its government in an interview with the Norwegian paper, where he said the people of Sudan could not do without international aid and the situation in the country was worsening. The UN envoy also reportedly criticized Sudan's President Omar Bashir for ruling the country "with an iron first". Za’atari later denied making such harsh statements, saying his comments were mistranslated from English to Norwegian.
