Members of Parliament in the eastern Sudan states have accused the Ministry of Electricity of spending SDG250 million ($43,3 million) from a donor’s conference, an amount which was allocated for improving the electricity services in the states.
The MPs stressed in a statement that SDG200 million ($34,6 million) of this amount, which was raised in Kuwait, was allocated for electricity services, and SDG50 million ($8,6 million) for the Halfa El Jadida project.
They further pointed to the shortage of power in the states of South Kordofan, South, and West Darfur, along with a lack of electricity and water in 30 squares in Um Badda and Omdurman.
