Killing of (133) people in tribal fighting in Sudan’s West’ Kordofan

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-A tribal leader has disclosed that at least (133) people have been killed and more than (100) injured in clashes between two groups belonging to an Arab tribe in West Kordofan state According to Khartoum media on Thursday that clashes between Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud groups of the Arab Mesiria tribe began with a dispute over land “They used guns and heavy weapons in the fighting in the Kwak area of the state of West Kordofan,” sources said In August Sudan’s first vice-president, Bakri Hassan Saleh, has directed West Kordofan governor Ahmed Khamis to end tribal fighting, restore security and mend the social fabric in the state. Intermittent clashes have been going on between Hamar tribe which dwells in West Kordofan state and Ma’alia tribe which inhabits in East Darfur. The fighting was triggered by land dispute between the two tribes. Last month, the Misseriya tribe disclosed that 150 of its members were killed and another 100 injured in renewed clashes between two of its clans, Awlad Omran and al-Zyoud in West Kordofan state. The government deployed police and military troops to contain the situation amid widespread of weapons among tribesmen.
