Khartoum denies Juba recognition of Abyei unilateral Referendum

Khartoum-The Sudanese Foreign Minister has denied what has been circulated on Wednesday newspapers that it has received a letter from South Sudan government in which the South Sudan government expressed intention to recognize unilateral referendum of Abyei. In 2013, Dinka Ngok conducted a unilateral referendum on the Sudan-South Sudan disputed oil-rich area of Abyei. The foreign ministry affirmed adherence to Sudan stance that any unilateral or illegal with regard to Abyei has value and effect. The foreign ministry said that the African Union, the Security Council and even South Sudan government have rejected to recognize what is called Abyei unilateral referendum. The Foreign Ministry has renewed Sudan commitment to what has been agreed upon via the African high-level mechanism that the final solution of Abyei issue is the prerogative of two Presidents.
