Khartoum Oil Refinery production declines sharply
|
Khartoum-Khartoum Refinery company has announced big decline in the amounts of the locally-produced crude oil, saying that daily refining capacity has reduced from (96-98) thousand barrel a day to (75) thousand barrels.
In the meantime, engineers in Khartoum Refinery have called for rehabilitating Port-Sudan refinery in case if possibility of importing oil from abroad.
Deputy Director of the Refinery Ali Abdelrahman Ibrahim has warned against the impact of the decline in the crude oil percentage on the devices and equipments in the refinery, saying this will negatively affect the equipments and complicates the maintenance works.
He said that the Sudanese workers are estimated to be at 80% while the Chinese workers are estimated to be at 20%, expecting the completion of the Sudanization of the staff by the end of the current year. The government shares in the old refinery reached 90%, and 75% in the new one, citing that by the end of 2016, the Sudanese government will own both refineries.
He denied effects citizens saying that” our heat emissions are less than the internationally allowed percentage”.
