ICC urges Ethiopia to arrest President Al-Bashir
|
Khartoum-The International Criminal Court has urged Ethiopia to arrest the Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir, who is currently visiting it to participate in the African security forum that took place in Bahar Dar city in April 26-27.
A statement issued by the ICC said that President Al-Bashir is in Ethiopia for participating in the third forum of security in Africa, and he, according to reports, will stay more four days, calling on the Ethiopian authorities to send explanation of the visit of Al-Bashir to Ethiopia. The ICC called on the signatories and non-signatories to Rome Statute to cooperate on arresting President Al-Bashir and handing him over to the ICC in connection of the charges of crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur. In March 2009, the ICC issued warrant of arrest for the President Al-Bashir.
The ICC accuses other Sudanese officials including the defense minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein and tribal chief Ali Koshaib of committing crimes.
