|
Khartoum-The chief of Al-Mahameed tribe and chairman of Al-Sahwa Revolutionary council Musa Hilal has described the arrest of chairman of the Umma Party Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi as unjustifiable saying it could obstruct the national dialogue. Speaking to the Citizen by phone from his residence in Mostariha area in North Darfur state, Hilal said the arrest decision is a backtrack on the national dialogue. On the other hand, Hilal said that the security committee in Kabkabia locality is escorted by regular and tribal forces have made crackdown against the insecurity breaches. He said that “we have arrested a group of outlaws and rebels who sneaked into the locality”. He said that they have besieged members of the rebel movements in Chad state and we will hand them over to the joint forces on the common borders. Hilal said that the purpose of the move was to ensure the supremacy of law, control arms and arrest the gangs which rob people in the area. He called on the people of the area to unify rank and renounce tribalism to realize stability and peace in Darfur. Hilal was the biggest ally for the government in Darfur. He was accused by human rights organizations of being the leader of the Janjaweed militias that backed the government forces in the fighting against the rebels. The Parliament was expected to drop his membership last week but the move was delayed due to the non-completion of the quorum of the session
