Armed men abducted the head of the transportation services in South Darfur’s capital Nyala on Sunday.
“An armed group linked to the government stormed the office of El Tahir Ali El Tahir in Nyala, and took him at gunpoint to an unknown destination on Sunday,” several witnesses reported to Radio Dabanga.
The witnesses said that the gunmen accused El Tahir of being involved in the scheming of armed robberies. “They had given him one day, Saturday, to produce details. On Sunday, he was abducted.”
The South Darfur State authorities on Saturday evening announced a night curfew for Nyala in response of the escalation of assaults and robberies in the city.
