|
Khartoum-The Assistant to the President and deputy chairman of the National Congress, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, has revealed imminent meeting with the President of the Republic on resumption of national dialogue, expecting that the meeting will be followed by a presidential invitation for the parties to participate in a new meeting.
Speaking to a symposium in Khartoum on Sunday, Ghandour said he is expected to meet President Al-Bashir in the coming hours to hold a meeting and set the start of dialogue, expecting that President Al-Bashir will invite the participating parties for imminent meeting to discuss the dialogue process and reactivate it.
He said that” the economic crisis, the remarkable rise in prices and peace priority has pushed his party toward dialogue initiative”.
Ghandour has pointed out that the election issue is constitutional however he hinted the possibility of postponement of elections if the dialogue process led to that. He denounced the link between dialogue and the amendments of the elections law at council of ministers by some people, stating that if the dialogue led to agreement on a national government, it will definitely lead to general elections.
He stated that the amendments of elections law came upon recommendations by political parties during a workshop held by the elections commission and the UN in October 2012.
