|
Khartoum-The National Assembly has approved the amended draft law of Gezira scheme for 2014 in its second reading stage, in the absence of the minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Mahmoud. The amended draft law has spared the state the funding, making it the responsibility of the farmers. It has also replaced the director general post with the “governor” which shall be appointed by the President of the Republic based on a recommendation from the concerned minister.
Member of the Parliament and former chief of security Salah Gosh has said called for putting an end to the differences over the viewpoints whether the state shall withdraw from the production issues or not.
In response, Speaker of the Parliament Al-Fateh Izzedin has said the state is not happy with intervention in the scheme because it has other enough concerns. However, the weak practice has dictated the intervention. He added.
