Egypt rejects adjournment of “Renaissance dam” negotiations
|
Khartoum-The Egyptian minister of animal resources and irrigation Husam Maghazi revealed Wednesday that Egypt has rejected to postpone the tripartite meeting between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to solve the renaissance dam crisis, proposed to be held in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
Maghazi said the postponement proposal came as a result to the engagement of Ethiopia in meeting of Southern Nile Basin countries, saying that Egypt has suggested convocation of the meeting in 13, 14, 15 of August in Khartoum.
He expected a breakthrough in the ongoing crisis between the two countries due to the Ethiopian renaissance dam due to the desire of the two countries to find a common solution satisfying the two sides in light of the joint communique between President Abdel-Fatah Al-Sisis and the Ethiopian Prime Minister Desalegn
Maghazi said Egypt has requested the Ethiopian side to offer assurances with regard to the safety of the dam structure, filling and discharging system and operation policy in general.
