Efforts to create African joint anti-corruption mechanism: Sudan says

The Speaker of Sudan’s Parliament, Dr. Fatih Izz al-Din, has announced that there are efforts are being made to create African joint mechanism to fight corruption in the continent. After his meeting with the Ethiopian delegation visiting Sudan, Izz al-Din said press statements on Tuesday that there is a direction to establish an African anticorruption mechanism which will be transparent and has the power to held responsible those who commit corruption in the African countries, pointing out that the matter requires a dialogue with each of the African Group. In his speech the Speaker stressed that there is no problem of borders between the Sudan and Ethiopia, emphasizing that the border is not a subject of conflict with Ethiopia, particularly that Addis Ababa’s government support Sudan in the international and regional forums, noting that Ethiopia speaks on behalf of Sudan regarding the issue of the International Criminal Court. He revealed a decline in human trafficking, especially after Sudan joined the International Convention and after adoption of penal legislation which has reached a death. For his part, the head of the Ethiopian delegation stressed the strength of the Sudanese-Ethiopian relations, pointing out that the challenge facing the region is poverty, adding that the agreements between the two countries needed to be implemented
