Declaration of Principles signed by the three countries is a violation of the indigenous rights in Benishangul To the masses of our proud people at home and diasporas To the men and women who hold the ember, and who are pressuring on trigger in the jungle, mountains and valleys.
The recently tripartite agreement between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan is a violation of the United Nations Declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples, which guided by the charter of the United Nations. The aforementioned countries have not fulfilled their obligation . Hence, they have violated the indigenous declaration in particular article 10, 18 and 19, which calls for prior consent of the people of the region where the dam is held.
Article 10 " Indigenous peoples shall not be forcibly removed from their lands or territories. No relocation shall take place without the free, prior and informed consent of the indigenous peoples concerned and after agreement on just and fair compensation and, where possible, with the option of return.
Article 18 "Indigenous peoples have the right to participate in decision-making in matters which would affect their rights, through representatives chosen by themselves in accordance with their own procedures, as well as to maintain and develop their own indigenous decision making institutions".
Article 19 "States shall consult and cooperate in good faith with the indigenous people concerned through their own representative institutions in order to obtain their free, prior and informed consent before adopting and implementing legislative or administrative measures that may affect them".
The Benishangul People's Liberation movement declares that the tripartite agreement is not-binding, whether it signed by the three countries or between two of these countries, which did not take into account the rights of the people of Benishangul that was robbed in conspiracy of 1902. Therefore the movement condemns the stance of the three countries that trade with the blood and the dignity and freedom of our people in Benishangul. it is noticeable that all the agreements signed with Abyssinia previously and so called Ethiopia currently, used the people and the land of the Benishangul as tools for the Nile water ( bartering tools), that was a despicable plot by powers that do not know the meaning of humanity, and that do not respect human rights and dignity. thus, the movement announces to everyone that it reserves the right to use all necessary means guaranteed by the international law to protect the freedom and dignity of the people of Benishangul.
