Darfur JEM refuses to participate in South Kordofan military operations
|
December 20, 2014-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline -The military figures in Darfur Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and Minni Minawi's Sudan Liberation movement (SLM-MM) have rejected to participate in the military operations planned by the National Revolutionary Front (NRF) in Southern Kordofan in the coming period to strengthen its negotiating position after the suspension of negotiations between it and Sudan’s government recently in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa JEM leading figure, Omar Ishaq, told the run-state Sudan Media Center (SMC) on Friday that leadership of his movement had accused Government of South Sudan of exploiting Darfur’s sons, calling on Juba government to pay their financial benefits for the movement's participation in the war with Salva Kiir. Ishaq added the this step led to disagreements between the chairman of the movement and some leaders who have refused to obey his orders and objected control of Sudan’ People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on Darfur movements, adding that the leader of SPLM-N, Malik Agar, threatened of withdrawing Darfur movements from National Revolutionary Front . NRF is alliance led by SPLM-N chairman Malik Agar, SRF is a coalition of rebel groups in Darfur, South Kordofan, Blue Nile and eastern Sudan formed in November 2011. SRF leaders say they want to overthrow the NCP regime "using all available means" and establish a secular, liberal state. In a press statement on 12 July 2012 SRF said it supported the urban protests against the government. It said support by the National Consensus Forces for the Sudanese people's "revolt" was a step in the right direction. It called on all political opposition forces to hold an expanded meeting on how to create a joint work programme, agree on a national democratic programme, and work together to bring down the regime.
