Khartoum, August 11 (SUNA) - In the framework of the Central Bank of Sudan's (CBOS) preparations to launch the project of payment system via mobile phone, CBOS Governor Abdul-Rahman Hassan Abdul-Rahman chaired Thursday the meeting of the steering committee of the project. The membership of the committee included the relevant departments within the Central Bank of Sudan, in addition to the National Telecommunication Corporation, the National Center for Information and Electronic Banking Services Company in order to get assured on the progress and implementation of the project in accordance with the set plan up to the phase of live operation, which is scheduled to be in early next September. It is to be recalled that this system will allow citizens to use mobile phones as a cash wallet according to the services provided by banks or telecommunication companies. The system is now in a trial operation stage, which began in last mid-July. The CBOS governor got acquainted with the latest arrangements for the launch of the system on the set date, directing project promotion for its national importance in achieving financial inclusion and support of the economy.
