African Union presents a compromise paper to Sudan’s government and the rebel SPLM-N

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-African Union High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), headed by former South Africa leader, Thabo Mbeki, would present today, Monday, compromise paper to the tow delegations of Sudan’s government and the rebel Sudan people Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) about the negotiations on Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states. Khartoum-based Al-Shirouq T.V channel reported on Sunday that the members of AUHIP held closed-door meetings to review the proposals made by the two delegations about the outstanding issues, explaining that the mediation will offer compromise paper which will be extracted from the delegations’ proposals for its part, SPLM-N had presented its paper to the mediation sticking to its positions regarding link of track of the negotiations of the Two Areas to Darfur track, besides its vision that the humanitarian solution must be partially without prior security arrangements, in addition to the holding of the preparatory meeting of the national dialogue in Ethiopia capital of Addis Ababa The Blue Nile and South Kordofan’s conflict erupted months apart from each other in 2011 when Sudan attempted to forcibly disarm SPLM-N fighters it accuses of being backed by their brother-in-arms in the South Sudanese army.
