AU chief meets with Darfur rebel leaders
|
Addis Ababa-The chief of the African Union, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, met in Addis Ababa on Friday with chairman of Sudan Liberation Movement, Arko Minawi , head of Justice and Equality Movement Dr. Jibril Ibrahim and vice president of the Revolutionary Front Al-tom Hajo. The delegation has demonstrated commitment of the armed movements and the revolutionary front to find a negotiated peaceful settlement as a priority option. The delegation accused the National Congress government of not being serious toward its initiatives. The delegation stressed the importance of prioritizing the agendas of negotiation, and that the government should agree with the revolutionary front to find a solution to the security and humanitarian issues before any expanding the talks to cover other axes. The AU chief said that Mr. Mohamed Bin Shambas and Mr. Thabo Mbeki will work to unify he peace forums, expressing readiness to meet the Revolutionary Front with its full membership as soon as possible. The meeting was at invitation from the AU chief to get acquainted with the views of leaders of the revolutionary front on peace opportunities in Sudan.
