40 thousand children diagnosed with diabetes in Sudan

Khartoum-Diabetes Specialists Dr. Amani Gindil said on Wednesday that the cases of diabetes among children under 20 have increased in the past period, affirming that the registered cases of diabetes in children are estimated at 40.000.
Amani called for adopting a sound food diet and fighting harmful food habits, according to SUNA.
Doctors have warned against the increasing in the cases diagnosed with diabetes.
Consultant of diabetes Dr. Moahmed Ali Al-Tom has attributed that the increasing in the number of diabetes in children to the increasing of obesity cases, having sugary food and lack of exercising sports.
He stressed the necessity of early diagnosis of diabetes for those aged over 45, saying that the number of the diabetics in Sudan reached two millions with half of this number does know they are diabetics.
On his part, Dr. Kamil Ahmed said that the cases of diabetes in Khartoum reached 20%, attributing this to the obesity and unhealthy food habits.
The deputy medical director of Jabir Abu-Al-Iz medical center Dr. Osama Mohamed Latif has revealed that the number of the new cases of diabetic is 450 per month.
He stated that the number of those registered in the center reached 57000 persons.
