Saudi Agriculture Minister discusses ways to finance projects in Sudan

Saudi Agriculture Minister is expected arrive in Khartoum today on an official visit to discuss the relations and cooperation between Sudan and Saudi Arabia, especially in the agricultural field, according to well-informed sources.
The sources told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A’am newspaper on Tuesday that Saudi Agriculture Minister will meet Sudan’s Agriculture Minister, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid to discuss cooperation in the agricultural field.
It should be noted that some reports published two days ago indicated that some Arabic funds and financing institutions will start in a few days future financing of agricultural projects in the Sudan within the framework of the improvement of relations with Saudi Arabia after Khartoum’s government announced its participation in the Saudi-led military coalition against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Two weeks ago Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir concluded a one-day state visit to Saudi Arabia in which he met with King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz and his son Mohamed who is the kingdom’s defence minister, in which in Sudan will stand with Saudi Arabia and will fight with Arab Gulf States.
Sudanese president has stated that their participation in the coalition is “symbolic” consisting of 3 Russian Sukhoi-24 fighters and some transport planes.
Al-Bashir also expressed readiness to send an infantry division for any ground operations “if requested to do so” by the Saudis.
The coalition includes United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco and Egypt, but it was not clear which carried out actual strikes.
