Killing of (21) civilians and fleeing (2,500) from South Kordofan state

The governor of Southern Kordofan state, Adam Al-Faki, has promised to rebuild the town of Habeela in South Kordofan state which has been attacked by the rebels of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), the fighting between Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and SPLM-N last few days resulted in killing of (21) civilians at least and fleeing of (2.500), besides burning of hundreds of houses and left extremely complex humanitarian situations. A Security Committee headed by the governor visited the area on Sunday and the governor said the situation returned to normal and the fleeing residents began returning to their homes. He emphasized that his Government through its institutions and organizations will work on reconstruction of the area and eliminates the consequences of the attack, praising the role of the armed forces and the popular defence forces to repel the attack The governor pointed out that the national organizations have provided the first aid to those affected to return to their homes after an improvement in the security situation there
SAF said on Saturday that the rebels SPLM-N have attacked Habeela, accusing the rebels of carrying out sabotage actions and destroying the civilian homes, facilities and torched the commercial market. SAF spokesperson, al-Sawarmi Khaled Sa’ad told Sudan’s News Agency (SUNA) has reinforced its troops in the areas and took control of the situation after rebels have been expelled from the area
