The rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement - North (SPLM-N) announced on Friday that it has started a military campaign to prevent the holding of the presidential and legislative elections in the country to be held next month. SPLM-N Spokesman said in press statements on Friday that his movement launched on Thursday “the military Sudan’s call campaign” which will carry out quick operations aimed at preventing the next presidential election. The spokesman added that the campaign aimed at integrating of the diverse means of struggle such as the armed uprising and civil disobedience to work together to stop the election and to destroy the forces that prevent injustice and tyranny. Sudan’s government declared many times a massive military campaign to end armed rebellion in Sudan's Darfur region and Blue Nile and South Kordofan states along the border with South Sudan. Fighting between government forces and rebels of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North broke out in Southern Kordofan in June 2011 and spread to Blue Nile. Rebels from Darfur later joined the SPLM-N in the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, an alliance which has vowed to overthrow Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party.
