Three officers of the paramilitary Border Guards have been dismissed for refusing to take part in a new offensive against rebel strongholds in Jebel Marra.
The three First Lieutenants refused to join the government troops who are currently re-grouping in Khor Ramla in Central Darfur, saying that they would not fight their relatives among the population of West Jebel Marra, a source from the area informed Dabanga.
“They were dismissed, after having been stripped of their ranks.”
The officers were among a group of 30 government troops stationed in Khor Ramla who stated last week that they would not participate in the upcoming battle against the rebels in the area. They were transferred to the military prison in Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur.
