Sudan and Bahrain sign an agreement to secure the food security

Feb 02, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan and Bahrain signed an agreement on "bounties of Bahrain" project in Sudanese Northern State within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of food security. Bahraini Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, said that the agreement is part of the initiative of Sudan’s president, in which he granted Bahrain investment land approximately 1,000 acres for a number of agricultural projects as well as projects for animal production in order to meet the demand of the local market and agricultural and animal products. Khalaf thanked Sudanese government and people for this initiative by the Sudanese President that comes within the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the area of food security, noting that Bahrain considers Sudan as a key resource for the animal products. Bahraini Minister added that his Kingdom made the first step towards the implementation of the agreement through a feasibility study with the Islamic Development Bank, and by encouraging the private sector to enter as a strategic partner in development and investment decisions based on strong economic basis For his part, Sudan's Minister at the Higher Council for Investment, Dr Mustafa Osman Ismail, said that the signing of the agreement is real translation for the Sudanese president initiative about the food security, pointing out that the area is rich in groundwater
