Sudan rebel SPLM-N calls on the world not to finance and observe the elections
|
Jan 16, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The General-Secretary of Sudan’s People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Yasir Arman, called on the international community not to respond to the call made by Sudan’s government to the international community to finance and observe the coming elections, urging Carter Center’s Election Observation Mission and the Nigerian president Obasanjo not to participate in the general elections to bed held in April. In press release after his coming from Oslo on Thursday, Arman revealed that he had appealed to the former Nigerian president not to take part elections based on oppression and war crimes. He stressed that holding of a constitutional conference is the best choice for Sudanese people, pointing out that the change powers have no option but to enhance their unity to topple the running National Congress Party (NCP). Arman noted that “Sudan Call” signed by many armed movements and influential opposition parties document has created qualitative shift in the Sudanese political theater. The political commission of the African Union (AU) named Idrisa Kamara as responsible for its mission to observe the Sudanese elections and it’s expected to visit Khartoum during this January and followed by the full mission early February, while sources in the African Union confirmed that the head of the observation committee will be the former Nigerian president Obasanjo
