A young man, shot by an army soldier in the Deleig camp for the displaced, Central Darfur, died of his wounds on Monday.
Speaking to Dabanga, a Deleig camp sheikh reported that Abdallah Mohamed Eisa, student at a khalwa (Koran school), was shot on Sunday when he paid a visit to his relatives in the camp.
“At about 8 pm, two army soldiers stormed the shelter of his family. When Eisa confronted them, they opened fire at him. He was critically injured, and died on Monday, while being transferred to Garsila Hospital.”
The sheikh said that the camp leaders have filed several complaints to the Commissioner of Deleig locality, Adam Ismail, about the repeated assaults by army personnel against people in their homes and on the streets, “however to no avail”.
He urged the commander of the Deleig garrison to put an end to the attacks.
