Two killed, others injured in Darfur attacks
Militiamen shot dead a displaced man, and injured two others in the area of Korma, North Darfur, on Sunday. On the same day, herders killed a farmer on his land in Gireida locality, South Darfur.
“At about 7 pm on Sunday, militia elements opened fire at a commercial vehicle parked in Wadi Tebreida, northwest of Korma. Adam Eisa Darol died instantly. Two others were injured,” an eyewitness reported to Radio Dabanga.
Planting season
In the area of Shergeila, 76 km south of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, a farmer was killed, and a herdsman wounded in a dispute over farmland.
Farmers in the area told Radio Dabanga that attacks by militant herders on unarmed farmers are on the rise in Gireida locality. “Recently, more farmers were assaulted. Some of them were killed too.”
They complained that the “government measures failed to stop the expected frictions between herders and farmers in South Darfur since the start of the planting season”.
