Opening of the Sudan-Egypt Ashkeit-Gastl crossing at February

December 26, 2014-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Abdel Mahmood Abdel Halim, confirmed that the meetings of the Joint Border Committee of between Sudan and Egypt approved the opening of Ashkeit-Gastl crossing officially at the end of February or early March 2015 as recommended by committee, pointing out that the opening will be witnessed by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab, and Sudan’s First Vice President, Bakri Hassan Saleh In statements on Tuesday, Abdel Halim disclosed that the meetings discussed the operating trail of the Ashkeit-Gastl crossing, adding that meeting reflected the common will of the two countries to develop and strengthen their cooperation in all fields, including the transport sector for its vital and important role in promoting communication and the flow of trade, investment, citizens, passengers and goods between the two countries and the countries of the African and Arabic countries. Sudanese diplomat praised the outcome of the meetings, noting that they confirmed the deep-rooted relations of the two countries and concern of the political leadership in both countries to strengthen those ties in response to the directives of the Sudanese-Egyptian Summit recently held in Cairo during the visit of President Omar al-Bashir to Egypt.
