(42) Sudanese political parties decides to participate in the elections so far

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s National Elections Commission (NEC) has registered (42) political parties to participate the coming the elections, stressing that it is still communicating with the other parties to activate their participation in the polls to be held in April 2015 the head of the Higher committee of the elections in Khartoum state told the state-run Sudanese Media Center (SMC) on Monday that the NEC has provided the higher committees in the states with credentials of (42) representatives of the political parties which had already registered to take part in the elections including the main Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) headed by Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani Sudan’s general elections are set to be held in April 2015, but opposition parties are refusing to participate. The opposition parties refuse to participate in the next year election demanding to postpone it and to form a transitional government to implement the resolutions that a national dialogue process can reach. In August, the DUP chief, who has resided in the British capital for the past year, met with a delegation of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF), stressing the need to promote peace and reconciliation in Sudan. Al-Mirghani also expressed his support for the national dialogue process, pointing to the need to include all political forces and adding that the participation of the opposition National Umma Party (NUP) is important.
