In press statements following the meeting of the national dialogue mechanism on Sunday, The NCP leading figure and member of the mechanism, Mustafa Osman Ismail, expressed his hope that all problems hinder the return of al-Mahdi to be removed “He (al-Mahdi) is demanded to give signals to encourage in that direction." He added Al-Mahdi has said he would return to the country when the dialogue process requires his presence in Khartoum. Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) said in the last month it intends to sue al-Mahdi for his participation in “activities against the country”. The announcement came hours after a speech delivered by president Omer Hassan al-Bashir in which he said the former can return back to Sudan only if he cancels the Paris Declaration. The NUP leader added that he can also return to Sudan after he finishes his mission abroad which aims to strengthen ties between Paris Declaration forces and its regional and international supporters besides conducting contacts in order to obtain promises from international bodies for cancelling Sudan’s external debt, lifting economic sanctions and providing development materials.
