Arman’s call for autonomy in the Two Areas leads to a new secession in Sudan: PCP
|
Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP) warned of the danger of calls made by the Secretary-General of Sudan People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Yasir Arman, for autonomous rule in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states, stressing that this approach would lead to a new secession in Sudan. The PCP leading figure, Mohammed Yusuf, said in statements carried out by the state-run Sudan Media Center (SMC) on Saturday said that Arman has no right to speak on behalf of the citizens of Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile, pointing out that demand for the autonomy is just a political maneuver rather than a viable reality. "Throughout the previous period we did not hear about the claims of autonomy to some areas of the country" he wondered Sudanese Parliament on Friday strongly slammed calls for autonomous rule in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states. The parliament considered such calls by the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM-N) a threat to national security. Badria Suleiman, a leading Sudanese MP, told reporters that there are no justifications for any state to call for autonomy or self-determination. She stressed that the government has remained committed to the outcome of the national dialogue.
